Turning waste into useful resources

The biowaste include all organic waste capable of natural decomposition This includes food scraps, peelings, expired foodstuffs, coffee grounds and green waste from garden maintenance, such as leaves, twigs and grass. It accounts for a significant proportion of household waste every year. In France, this represents an average of 83 kg of bio-waste per inhabitant per year (i.e. ⅓ of our household garbage cans), a significant quantity still too often thrown away with conventional garbage.

When not recycled, this bio-waste becomes a source of pollution. Buried, it generates methane, a gas far more powerful and 25 x more harmful than CO₂. Burned, it requires a great deal of energy, since it is 80% water.
