Camping Clef Verte

Green Key commitment to responsible tourism

Choose a Green Key campsiteis to look for more responsible vacationswithout sacrificing comfort or pleasure. But what does this mean in concrete terms for you? Criteria, commitments, daily actions, benefits for travelers… La Clape Village, a 5-star campsite in Cap d’Agde, is a perfect illustration of this approach, and may help you to better understand this label and what it represents for your next stay.

The Green Key Label

A reliable label for choosing a committed venue

The Clef Verte label has existed for over 20 years, and is part of an international sustainable tourism program run by the Teragir association. Each year, establishments apply for the label and are then audited to verify that their criteria are actually being applied: responsible water and energy management, waste reduction, responsible purchasing, quality of living environment and traveler awareness.

La Clape Village has been awarded the Clef Verte for 2024 for the second year running, proof of a sustainable commitment over time – not just a one-off approach.

Today, this label helps travelers identify places that are committed, reliable and consistent with a more respectful way of traveling.

Understanding Green Key award criteria

What it really means for your vacation

A Clef Verte campsite is one that meets criteria that are audited every year: rational management of water and energy, waste reduction, choice of more responsible products and concrete actions to preserve the environment. This label guarantees that the commitment is not theoretical, but measured, verified and improved over time.

In our ecological campsitethis sustainable approach is a natural part of comfort.

For you, this means pleasant vacationsby the beach or in close proximity to nature, with no constraints and the satisfaction of supporting more responsible tourism. In short: travel better, without sacrificing pleasure or comfort!

Concrete actions implemented at the campsite

Simple gestures make a real difference every day

In our Green Key campsiteenvironmental commitment is reflected in concrete actions and visibleThese features are designed to enhance the impact of your stay without compromising comfort.

On a day-to-day basis, this means better management of resources, well-considered material choices, and more responsible organization of services: low-energy lighting, biodiversity-friendly green spaces, equipment designed to last, and simple practices to limit the impact of your stay.

The aim is simple: reduce what can be reduced, optimize what must be optimized, and give priority to sustainable solutions. This approach also helps preserve the spirit of our natural campsite, where closeness to the environment is an integral part of the vacation experience.

Camping Label Clef Verte – FAQ

Your questions about the Clef Verte label

Is the Clef Verte label an official one?

Yes. It is one of the programs of the Teragir association, which is recognized as being in the public interest. The label is also deployed in over 60 countries and is now one of the international benchmarks for sustainable tourism.

What's in it for travelers?

It simply helps to identify accommodations committed to more responsible tourism, while guaranteeing a level of quality consistent with the program’s criteria.

Is this a label reserved for top-of-the-range campsites?

No. It can involve campsites, hotels, restaurants, youth hostels, self-catering cottages or residences of any kind. What they have in common is their commitment to the environment, not their range.

How are award criteria defined?

The criteria (called Green Key) are created at international level by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). They are re-evaluated every four years to keep pace with current environmental issues.

Does the label take social impact into account?

Yes. In addition to environmental aspects, certain criteria focus on staff training, passenger awareness and the establishment’s social responsibilities.

Do Green Key criteria evolve over time?

Yes. The criteria are regularly updated to keep pace with environmental, technological and regulatory advances. This enables the label to encourage continuous improvement rather than simple validation at a given point in time.
