Preserving the environment for sustainable tourism

On the news front, a scheme to protect peri-urban agricultural and natural areas ( PAEN) was set up in 2012 for Les Verdisses.

The aim is to preserve the region’s natural heritage, better manage its water resources and promote sustainable agriculture that respects the environment.

This initiative is excellent news, as the exceptional biodiversity of Les Verdisses makes it a special place for nature lovers, as well as for the market gardeners, winegrowers, shepherd and manadier who work the land.

The ecosystem, alive and fragile, deserves greater protection if it is to continue to thrive, providing a refuge for numerous animal and plant species and welcoming eco-responsible tourism.

Discover a unique hydraulic network

Did you know that Les Verdisses is criss-crossed by a remarkable hydraulic system, made up of roubines (small irrigation or drainage canals) and artesian wells (exsurgences that draw water from underground aquifers)?

All the more reason to preserve this wetland, whose water feeds the land and fosters exceptional biodiversity.
